This is not a promise buried in terms of service. It is built into the technical architecture of the platform. Supported integrations transmit only de-identified event signals approved by the user. Video, audio, images, and raw content never enter the contribution pipeline.
Flip House is designed to measure events, not monitor people.
Flip House is an application built on the Gremium platform. Flip House collects approved, de-identified event signals from supported home devices, and Gremium verifies, coordinates, and records those contributions. Individual household data is never sold. Approved organizations receive only aggregated, de-identified insights.
How the system is built
Why privacy is our entire business model
Much of the connected-home industry has told people privacy matters while building extensive data-collection systems. Our business is proving that valuable intelligence can exist without collecting people's private lives. Our value comes from full consent, full transparency, and fair compensation to the person generating the data. If we violate that, we have nothing. Our success depends on earning your trust, not on collecting more of your personal information.
How Privacy Is Protected
- Raw personal content never enters the contribution pipeline.
- Only the minimum event signals necessary for the contribution you approve are collected. Any information not needed for the authorized contribution is discarded during processing.
- Personal identifiers are separated from your contribution data.
- Contributions are associated with a pseudonymous contributor ID, not your personal identity.
- You can disconnect devices and revoke participation at any time.
- Aggregated insights apply minimum aggregation thresholds to significantly reduce the risk of identifying individual households.
What we never collect
- Raw video footage of any kind
- Raw audio recordings of any kind
- TV content — what you watch
- Voice recordings
- Facial recognition or biometric data
- Personally identifying information attached to your contribution data
- Raw electricity usage data
- Raw water usage data
- IP addresses in contribution records or customer-facing datasets
What a Contribution Looks Like
- Event type — motion detected, TV on, meter spike
- Timestamp — when the event occurred
- Duration — how long the event lasted
- Boolean flags — sound yes/no, person yes/no
- Zone label — front door, living room (you define these)
- Device type — camera, TV, electric meter, water meter
- Pseudonymous contributor ID — used for participation and, if applicable, future reward settlement
This never includes the content of the event, only the fact that it occurred.
Your account information
Personally identifying account information you provide at signup is stored separately from your contribution data and is never shared with data buyers.
Law enforcement
Because Flip House is designed not to retain raw video, raw audio, images, or raw utility measurements, those materials are not available in our systems for disclosure.
Requests for information can only be fulfilled to the extent data exists and as required by applicable law. When a request is legally valid, Flip House can only provide information that exists in its systems.
Your rights
You decide what you contribute, and you can stop contributing at any time. You can audit every contribution submitted on your behalf. We will never retroactively change what we collect without explicit opt-in consent. Your participation is always voluntary.
